January 20, 2006 - Weighing 10.5 lb, EA Series brushless motors produce 11 kW at 6,500 rpm and operate at 12-72 Vdc up to 450 A. They feature custom housing and end bells, along with lightened rotor and titanium shaft. Developed to enable vertical take off and landing operations in unmanned aerial vehicles, motors are also suited for defense and aerospace applications such as hybrid and electric vehicles, mobile power generation and auxiliary power units, and aircrafts.

eCycle, Inc. Announces its Lightest 11kW B Brushless Motor - Enables Many Aerospace Applications


eCycle announces its EA Series Brushless Motor, ideal for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and aerospace applications.

Temple, PA January 2, 2006 -- eCycle recently announced its newest brushless motor designed for aerospace applications. Based on the CMG Silicon Series brushless motor generator, the EA Series (eCycle Aerospace) brushless motor weighs only 10.5lbs and produces 11kW at 6,500rpm.

The EA brushless motor was originally developed for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to enable vertical take off and landing (VTOL) operations.

The EA brushless motor shares many of the same features found in the standard CMG Silicon Series that weighs 15lbs. By utilizing a custom housing and end bells, in conjunction with a lightened rotor and titanium shaft, the company was able to remove more than 4lbs. from the standard motor. Both the EA Series and CMG Silicon Series brushless motors operate at low voltage (12 -72VDC) and high current (up to 450 A).

According to Dan Sodomsky, eCycle's President and CEO, "EA brushless motors will raise industry standards in the areas of efficiency, power density and size". Sodomsky believes this may be the lightest and most compact, commercially available 11kW brushless motor ever produced.

EA brushless motors can provide advantages to a wide array of defense and aerospace applications where a smaller, lighter, more powerful motor/generator is required. These applications include: hybrid and electric vehicles, mobile power generation and auxiliary power units, aircraft and UAV's. eCycle believes the new EA series motor will enable many aerospace applications that were previously not possible, because suitable components had not been available.
