DC Motor - 16mm Brushless DC Motor

Maxon's "EC 16" brushless dc motor is electronically commutated, thus enabling extremely long motor life, since there are simply no mechanical brushes to wear out. Using electronic commutation also minimizes electrical noise. Utilizing high-energy neodymium magnets results in a very responsive motor while minimizing overall size. Motors are available in three versions to provide for maximum flexibility: with hall sensors, sensorless, or with integrated electronics

Weighing in at 58 g (2 oz), the 16 mm (0.63 in) diameter motors measure 56 mm (2.2 in) in length not including shaft or cables. Continuous output power is 40 watts, while the maximum speed is an impressive 60,000 RPM. Maximum continuous torque is 15.6 mNm (2.2 oz-in). Ambient temperature range is -20° to 100° C (-4° to 212° F). Matching gearheads and digital encoders are also available to complement the motors, as well as Maxon's highly dynamic servoamplifiers.

Due to their high performance in a compact package, the EC 16 motors are particularly suitable for a variety of applications including hand-held devices, air samplers, robotics, automation, as well as medical and positioning applications.

Maxon designs, manufactures, and markets fractional horsepower moving coil DC motors & brushless motors ranging in size from 6 to 90 mm (0.2 to 3.5 in) and from 0.03 to 500 watts. We have an extensive selection of dc motors, gearheads, encoders, and control electronics.
