January 26, 2010 - As Laser-Driven Light Sources (LDLS(TM)), EQ-1500/1510 enable imaging and analytical spectroscopy in life and materials sciences applications. Each can provide high brightness over spectral range from 170 nm through visible and beyond with spatial and power stability that lend to repeatable measurements. Also, direct imaging of plasma optimizes coupling to instrument. Model EQ-1510 has smaller stainless steel lamp house for contamination-sensitive applications.

Energetiq Unveils High Brightness, Broadband Light Sources for Critical Spectroscopy Applications

EQ-1500/EQ-1510 Laser-Driven Light Sources on display at SPIE Photonics West and BiOS 2010

WOBURN, Mass. -- Energetiq Technology, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of specialized light sources for advanced technology applications, has introduced new light sources to its Laser-Driven Light Source (LDLS(TM)) product family that will enable imaging and analytical spectroscopy in a variety of applications in the life sciences and materials sciences. Energetiq will exhibit the EQ-1500 and EQ-1510 LDLS products at SPIE Photonics West and BiOS, January 23-28, 2010 in San Francisco.

Now, a single light source -- EQ-1500 or EQ-1510 -- can provide extreme high brightness over a broad spectral range, from 170nm through visible and beyond. Traditionally, the combination of multiple lamps such as Tungsten/Halogen, Xenon-arc, or Deuterium has been necessary to cover this broad spectral range, which has proved costly and optically inefficient. Furthermore, these traditional lamps use electrodes which limit their ability to achieve the high brightness needed for demanding spectroscopy applications and which cause short lamp life. The proprietary laser-driven bulb technology utilized in the LDLS EQ-1500 and EQ-1510 allows for bulb brightness and lifetimes that are an order of magnitude higher and longer than these traditional lamps.

The EQ-1500 and the EQ-1510 offer superior spatial and power stability for highly repeatable measurements, and provide direct imaging of the plasma for optimized coupling to the instrument. Both models are housed in a compact package for easy integration. The EQ-1510 features a smaller stainless steel lamp house for contamination-sensitive applications.
