GE's New Boron Nitride Spray Coating Offers Superior Lubrication, Coverage, and Adhesion
STRONGSVILLE, OHIO - Mar. 29, 2006 - The Ceramics division from GE Advanced Materials has introduced a new grade of its boron nitride (BN) spray coating that eliminates the use of methylene chloride. GE's Boron Nitride (BN) Spray II is an excellent candidate for use as a release agent and lubricant in a wide range of applications, including metalforming, glassmaking, plastics molding, high-temperature sintering, and welding and brazing. The new spray coating contains a high-purity, high-crystalline grade of BN that imparts superior lubrication properties. For easier application, it is offered in an aerosol package.

Boron nitride coatings are used as release agents and lubricants to prevent materials such as molten metal, plastics, rubber, and metallic and ceramic materials from sticking to or reacting with dies, molds, and other surfaces. With high heat resistance, they prevent wetting by molten metals such as aluminum and magnesium. These coatings also improve the surface finish of end products and shorten cycle times by speeding mold/die release.
