February 23, 2009 - Accepting high-voltage synchro input or low-voltage resolver input, Model 44PA1 delivers 30 Va of synchro power at 90 VL-L that will drive most 60 Hz or 400 Hz control transformers or torque receivers. Since unit can be remotely turned on or off, it is usable for redundant applications. All signal inputs are transformer isolated and logic inputs and outputs are opto-isolated. Operating from -40 to +71°C, amplifier provides ±0.05° accuracy for CT loads and ±0.17° accuracy for TR loads.

30 VA Synchro Booster Amplifier Now Available for Military and Commercial Applications

60Hz and 400Hz versions available with 90 VL-L Output and protection on outputs and inputs

Bohemia NY - North Atlantic Industries (NAI) has announced the availability of a 30 VA Synchro Booster Amplifier for Military and Commercial applications. The stand-alone 44PA1 unit accepts either a high voltage Synchro input or a low voltage Resolver input and delivers 30 VA of Synchro power at 90VL-L that will drive most 60 Hz or 400 Hz Control Transformers (CT) or Torque Receivers (TR). The Synchro Booster Amplifier can be remotely turned "ON" or "OFF" and is therefore usable for redundant applications. All signal inputs are transformer isolated and logic inputs and outputs are opto-isolated. Synchro outputs are floating, so one leg may be grounded. Since power is derived from the reference input, rather than DC supplies, power dissipation is significantly reduced. The 44PA1 provides ± 0.05 degrees accuracy for CT loads and ± 0.17 degrees accuracy for TR loads.

The 44PA1 Synchro Booster Amplifier is protected from output short circuits, current overloads, load voltage transients, reference transients, and over-temperature. Built-In-Test (BIT) capability is included in the 44PA1 to monitor over-temperature and over-current conditions. Wrap-around testing (isolated, low level signal output) capability is provided that seamlessly interfaces with the self-test capability of North Atlantic Industries broad range of intelligent multi-function Synchro cards. The unit requires no adjustments or calibration and has rugged construction.

The 44PA1 is ideally suited for military and commercial programs, including airborne, shipboard, ground mobile and C3I applications. It is available with operating temperature range of -40°C to +71°C. Pricing for 100 pieces of the 44PA1 starts at $1,870 each. Delivery starts at 10 to 12 weeks ARO.

"The 44PA1 provides our customers with a rugged Synchro Booster Amplifier unit that can drive high voltage CTs and TRs," said Lino Massafra, VP of Sales and Marketing at NAI. "They particularly like the low power dissipation and the Built-In-Test features."
