PPM Introduces Intrinsically Safe Bonding Meter

CLEVELAND, OH - August 6, 2004 - PPM, Inc., a 45-year-old Cleveland-based specialty electronic test equipment firm, introduces the latest product in its line of precision meters: the R1L-E2 Ruggedized Ohmmeter/Bonding Meter, certified as being intrinsically safe and bearing ATEX directive, UL, CSA and CE markings.

The R1L-E2, developed for the Joint Strike Fighter aircraft program, provides safe measurement of mechanical and electrical bonds in explosive environments. ATEX Directive EN 13980:2000, a European standard, and UL 913, a US standard, demand stringent intrinsically safe operation in explosive atmospheres. In addition, the R1L-E2 has received the CE mark and approval to Canadian Standards Association requirements.

According to PPM's Managing Director, Sales and Marketing, Cliff Nazelli, "Applications for this bonding meter include any diesel or jet-fuel storage units, fuel tanks and system components, or transport lines where explosive fumes might create a hazard for operators using standard test instruments."
