November 1, 2005 - Suited for use on marine containers, 3/8 in. Intermodal II Bolt seals are made from all-steel components with plastic-coated locking case, and insert that spins freely to ensure seal integrity. Locking ring ensures proper sealing engagement of bolt and locking case, and plastic cover clearly reveals any tampering attempt. Shoulder design of locking case provides 1/8 in. shroud that prevents insertion of tool or shim to disengage bolt from case.

Intermodal II High Security Bolt Seal

New requirements for high security seals were derived from ISO/PAS 17712 which is an international standard which specifies the minimum, acceptable physical strength parameters for high security bolt and cable seals that can be used on marine containers.

This standard addresses the minimum required values that must be attained to be considered as compliant. IN it, each of the tests simulates a method of attack. In meeting or exceeding ISO 17712's specific strength requirements that particular high security seal in question will be regarded as "compliant" and can be used on marine containers.

Well before this ISO standard, Brooks' High Security Intermodal II Bolt seals exceeded all known strength requirements. Made from all-steel components and a plastic-coated locking case, its insert spins freely to assure seal integrity. Its lazed decoration provides a consecutive number and company name or logo for tracking and accountability. Unlike all other equivalents, the Intermodal II is a full 3/8" in diameter, which assures added strength, security and performance.

Its patents will assure proper sealing engagement of the Intermodal bolt and locking case, through a precisely manufactured locking ring, even if attempts are made to spin the locking case off. The patented design of the locking case's plastic cover will clearly reveal a tampering attempt tampering attempts occur. Tamper evidence will be revealed by cracks, scratches or blush marks. No other bolt seal today is as effective. In addition to the enhancements that were previously mentioned the plastic locking case has a special shoulder design that will interfere with attempts to disengage the bolt form the locking case. The shoulder takes the form of a 1/8" shroud that will prevent the insertion of a tool or shim to disengage the two components.

As with all high Security seals, Brooks strongly recommends that you ensure that (1) the high security seals that you use are ISO/PAS 17712 compliant, (2) that you've been furnished with test data confirming that the seals you use meet or exceed ISO/PAS 17712's minimum requirements, (3) that the data's been validated by an independent, certified ISO testing laboratory which conforms to ISO/IEC 17025 and (4) that a vendor Certificate of Compliance to ISO.PAS 17712 be provided.
