Alfat-SD - Quickly Adds SD Data Storage to Your Product!

Pittsford, New York. ALFAT-SD is new low-cost small-size board that quickly adds megabytes of multimedia storage to almost any project. Low cost and ease of use makes ALFAT-SD the easiest solution for OEMs and hobbyists to add removable data storage to digital devices, since it is based on ALFAT - a unique serial-to-FATfile converter i.c. This means that data stored on removable media with ALFAT-SD can easily be read on any almost PC.

The SD/MMC media connector is placed near the edge of the board, with four adjacent mounting holes, making it possible to sturdily mount the ALFAT-SD board inside your product case using 90º brackets. 0.1" spaced holes allow easy connection to your system. With on-board voltage regulators, ALFAT-SD can runs from 5V to 12V supply, but it is also capable of running with 3.3V.

The FAT file data system is widely used for data storage and is supported by most operating systems. ALFAT saves files and directories in standard FAT file system format, so stored data can be accessed from any device that supports FAT file system, such as a PC, most digital cameras and MP3 players. Simply, send your data to ALFAT-SD using a serial port or SPI and the ALFAT i.c. will take care of the rest! ALFAT-SD can be easily used with any microcontroller, including the popular PIC, AVR, and Basic Stamp, and can save a great deal of time and money when you need to add a cost-effective data storage feature to your product.

Applications for the tiny 2" x 1.6" ALFAT-SD include: data loggers, picture viewers, MP3 players, file transfer capability between automated machines and PCs, etc.
