Gear ratios from 14:1 to 39:1 enable OEMs to achieve optimal speed and motor efficiencies for each vehicle type. OEMs can choose between range of UL-approved ac induction motors up to 5.2 hp/4.0 kW for battery voltages of 24, 36, 48, 72, and 80 V.

Modular Bevel Gear Drives Optimize Pallet Truck Design And Performance At Single-Source Savings And Convenience
Innovative drives offer tightest swing radius, widest gear-ratio range, no offset wide-wheel design with custom configuration for walkies or riders
February 2008 - ABM DRIVES INC. widens the options for pallet truck OEMs with new, modular-design, wide-wheel bevel gear drives. The innovative TDB254WR drives bring greater compactness, stability, efficiencies and design flexibility to traction drives for pallet, reach, narrow aisle and stand-up trucks, AGVs, sweepers and scrubbers. Special gearing allows industry's tightest swing radius - just 7"/175mm - for wide wheel (up to 5" tread) capability with zero-offset drive. The swing-saving design enables OEMs to create more compact and stable truck designs. German engineered and competitively priced, the ABM bevel gear drives use modular design to allow OEMs to configure the same base unit for large or small vehicles and walkie or rider pallet truck models. The industry widest range of gear-ratios - 14:1 to 39:1 - allows OEMs to achieve optimal speed ranges and motor efficiencies for each vehicle type.
Critical to vehicle control and safety in tight spaces, ABM matches centerlines of motor and wheel to eliminate offsets which cause a truck to pull to one side - torque steer- on acceleration.
Modular design allows OEMs to custom-specify motor, steering, gear ratios, tiller mounting set-up and endshields - all from a single source, fully assembled and integrated, at package savings. OEMs can choose between a range of high-efficiency UL-approved AC induction motors up to 5.2HP/4.0kW for battery voltages of 24V, 36V, 48V, 72V and 80V, a variety of motor sizes and lengths, and 10" diameter standard wheel or 12" optional wheel. Three steering choices are available - direct drive tiller, assisted (chain and sprocket), or fully integrated by-wire steering - plus holding brake options. The same gearbox can be equipped with any of the three steering configurations, simplifying part ordering and part stocking for OEMs.
