A&D Weighing Introduces High-Speed Batching Controller With Fieldbus Interface Capabilities
Milpitas, CA - April 24, 2002 - A&D Weighing introduces the AD-4402, a high-speed controller for use as a stand-alone batching unit or as part of a large multi-function system. The controller's easy-to-use networking, communications and software programming combined with its large database storage capacity provide flexibility in a wide variety of applications such as batching, automatic mixing, filling and checkweighing.
The AD-4402 assures accuracy and high speed of filling materials with its forecast control mode. It automatically adjusts hopper discharge within one (1) millisecond response.
A standard RS-485 interface allows up to 32 A&D controllers to be networked to one programmable logic controller (PLC), personal computer (PC) or other equipment supporting Modbus. This networking lowers implementation cost using simple wiring between each indicator. Data entry, updating, recalling parameters and control commands are handled directly from the PLC or PC.
Users will also find it easy to connect the growing number of fieldbus devices in batching systems by using one of the CC-Link©, DeviceNet© and PROFIBUS© interfaces available as options. Other options include BCD, relay, analog output, RS-422/RS-485, RS-232C and Parallel I/0.
The controller's software programming stores up to 100 raw material and 100 recipe codes with each recipe code containing up to 10 materials. It also provides programming for sequencing, target weights, as well as fast, slow and dribble feed. The 11 outputs and 11 inputs can be easily set-up using one of the 50 preprogrammed function codes for items such as filling, over, under, discharge bin, or mixing as well as emergency stop and
error signals.
The compact IP-65 front panel enclosure allows operation in harsh environments with trouble-free panel or desktop mounting. Operators will appreciate the large easy-to-read blue vacuum fluorescent display with seven (7) digit, 18mm tall characters for actual weight and three lines of display showing descriptions, code in use, target weights, programmed parameters and error messages. The keypad has 10 alpha/numeric keys for entering identification codes, target weights and other instructions as well as two function keys, code recall/set button, zero, tare, gross/net/tare, and enter buttons.
