Philadelphia Mixing Solutions Acquires License for Maelstrom® High-Shear Batch and In-Line Mixers

Palmyra, PA based Philadelphia Mixing Solutions, a leading manufacturer of fluid mixing equipment and process optimization services, has announced their latest venture aimed at the high-shear mixing market. After over 50 years of being a top supplier in low-shear fluid mixing and aeration, PMSL is expanding their focus and industry expertise into the high performance, high-shear mixers market with the Maelstrom® line. While the Maelstrom was developed outside the US, PMSL is the only domestic company to be awarded licensing to sell this next generation technology. PMSL will now increase its capability to cover all major liquid-liquid and liquid-solid mixing applications.

Utilizing innovative FDM rotor/stator technology designs, the Maelstrom® line uses hydraulic shearing actions by creating impinging vortices capable of delivering typical particle sizes in the 2-4 micron range with narrow size distribution. Advanced mechanical design allows for increased tolerances leading to greater durability, reliability, versatility, and serviceability on-site. With the advanced mixing characteristics of the proprietary mixing head, the Maelstrom® unit can provide on-target dispersions within far fewer passes through the mixing head thus significantly reducing batch times to a fraction of industry standards. 2005 marks the beginning of the next generation in high-shear mixers. This technologically superior drive will serve to meet the increasing need to greatly improve the process efficiency in domestic markets.

As the recognized leader in the field of mixing technology, PMSL encourages all customers to visit the world's largest and most comprehensive mixing test lab to view real-time testing and receive test data for the new Maelstrom® technology.
