September 7, 2009 - Constructed with die-cast magnesium body, IP65-rated BL-1300 incorporates noise reduction and compensation functions to overcome reading performance difficulties. High-speed Parallel Processing Engine (HPPE) allows for stable performance of up to 1,300 scans and decodes per second, and aspherical lens lends to noise reduction and label reading distance. Also, edge detection accurately extracts points of alternation between bars and spaces on even difficult-to-read barcodes.

Ultra-Compact, Digital Bar Code Reader...1300 Scans/Decodes Per Second

The KEYENCE BL-1300 Ultra-compact Digital Bar Code Reader is the first model in its class to use parallel digital processing technology. Noise reduction and compensation functions, only possible with digital processing, overcome the reading performance difficulties of conventional analog circuits. Constructed with die-cast magnesium bodies, the IP-65 rated readers are highly resistant to dirt and harsh environments, and can be easily mounted virtually anywhere.

The new High-speed Parallel Processing Engine (HPPE) allows for stable performance of up to 1,300 scans and decodes per second, unmatched by conventional bar code readers. The BL-1300 Series provide nearly 100 times the information processing capacity and have a high-speed motor 2.6 times faster than previous models. KEYENCE has also developed a new aspherical lens that doubles the intensity of the received laser reflection, reducing noise and increasing the effective label reading distance.

A new edge detection process accurately extracts the points of alternation between bars and spaces on even the most difficult-to-read barcodes. Digital compensation makes it possible to read varying narrow/wide bar ratios. 3Hi-Digital models can solve typical reading problems experienced with conventional sensors, such as the following: non-uniform line thicknesses, misaligned marking, shiny backgrounds, uneven backgrounds, reading from a diagonal orientation (pitch angle), and many more. High resolution digital processing guarantees a stable decode with incredibly narrow bar widths. This allows codes to be printed as low as 0.08mm (0.003") without the worry of noise affecting the reader.

Test modes can be initiated by using the test switch built into the barcode reader body. The 5-bar LED quickly shows results at a glance, significantly reducing the man-hours needed for adjustment.

The BL-1300 Series supports USB and Ethernet interfaces while continuing to support RS-232C, RS-422A and RS-485 communication. This wide range of supported interfaces allows for versatile system configuration. The Multi-I/O function allows users to assign various operational functions to the reader's two inputs and four outputs, which can be configured to match application conditions.

Additional functions, designed for ease-of-use, have also been integrated into the BL-1300 series: Auto-Trigger Mode, Preset/Comparison Function, Barcode Position Detection Function, Synthesized Barcode Reading Function, and support for GS1 Databar (RSS) Barcodes.
