GlasForms Introduces GlasArmor(TM) Bullet & Ballistic Resistant Panels

GlasArmor(TM) ballistic resistant FRP panels are capable of withstanding multiple shots from a 44 Magnum at 1450 feet/second on a 240 grain projectile with no penetrations through its ½" nominal thickness. GlasArmor(TM) panels meet both the NIJ Level 3A as well as the UL752 Level 3 criteria for ballistic resistance providing encapture and retention of projectiles to avoid ricochet. For heavier munitions, the Dept. of Defense specifies the use of 3 panel layers to provide protection from mortar fire.

Panels are created by Glasforms proprietary resin injection pultrusion process utilizing multiple layers of woven "E" glass reinforcements encapsulated in a proprietary resin matrix. Standard panel size is 4 feet x 8 feet with other panel sizes produced for custom applications. GlasArmor(TM) weighs 5.1 pounds per square foot; 25% the weight of ½" thick steel.

These FRP panels offer ballistic resistant security with the additional performance advantages of durability, corrosion resistance, electrical non-conductivity, low thermal conductivity and light weight. Panels are easily fabricated and installed with common construction tools for military structures, police stations, courtrooms, critical control rooms, safe rooms, banks, cash boxes, storm shelters and firing ranges.
