FineLine(TM) Ball Screws - Good as Ground for Less
San Jose, CA - BS&A, a Danaher Motion company, announces the immediate availability of their new FineLine series of precision ball screws. Unlike ground ball screws, FineLine ball screws are manufactured using BS&A's proprietary PSF Technology(TM) manufacturing process. This enables BS&A to offer precision ball screws as accurate as expensive ground screws but at a significant cost savings and much shorter delivery lead times compared to ground screws.
In fact, FineLine ball screws are priced closer to ordinary rolled ball screws, and FineLine lead times are typically two weeks or less, even with custom machined ends. PSF Technology actually produces as good or better surface finish than grinding can. Grinding can expose the metal's hard spots in the screw's ball tracks, which can mar ball surfaces and shorten screw life by up to 20%. Another benefit of PSF Technology is the precise cylindricality and ball track roundness of the screws. This contributes to the highly consistent running torque and the smooth, quiet operation of FineLine ball screws.
Standard FineLine ball screws are available certified to ISO accuracy grades P3 (P5 and T5 grades are also available). Metric and English leads are offered in screw lengths up to six meters (20 feet), depending on diameter. Available diameters range from 12 mm through 80mm. Matched ball nuts are offered in four flange styles as standard., but custom ball nut flanges are available. Customer-specified preload from zero up to 13% of the dynamic load rating can be provided.
