MobiComp Enables Operators to Profit From Handset-Based Contents 'Over the Air' Back-Up

MobiComp Unveils Symbian-signed MobileKeeper 1.1. Solution At 3GSM World Congress

Braga, Portugal, February 9th, 2005 – MobiComp, a leading mobile computing and wireless solutions provider, Symbian Affiliate Partner and Forum Nokia PRO member will unveil the newest release of the Symbian-signed MobileKeeper 1.1. solution, during the 3GSM World Congress, at the Forum Nokia PRO stand (Hall 4, K22), in Cannes, France, from 14th to 17th February.

MobiComp MobileKeeper client-server solution enables operators to guarantee safekeeping of increasing volumes of valuable information stored on subscribers' phones.. The "over the air" data backup for the mobile devices allows storage and recovery of contacts, calendar, tasks, SMS, MMS, ring tones, images, videos, J2ME applications and more. It is currently on trial on a number of european mobile communications operators.

The aggressive adoption of a mobile lifestyle is driving the trend to keep increasing volumes of ever more important data stored in vulnerable mobile phones. While there are no easy, straightforward and widespread solutions to guarantee the safety of that information, existing backup solutions such as connecting devices to desktop PC’s are not practical nor used by the vast majority of mobile phone users.

MobiComp MobileKeeper a unique client-server solution that secures subscriber’s handset-based information and contents in a convenient and accessible way

MobileKeeper, a Series 60 “Application of the Week”, is a unique client-server solution that secures end-user’ mobile information and contents in a convenient and accessible way, working as extended storage for the mobile device. MobileKeeper main functions include:

- Keep It (replicates all/defined information),

- Get It (recovers all/part of stored data),

- Explore It (works as a File Explorer allowing to keep, get, move, delete items)

- Profiles (allows to define several profiles for storing/recovering/scheduled backups).

The solution relies on open standard technologies, with a client-server architecture, and web services layer for integration with the mobile operator infrastructure. MobileKeeper is a secure, reliable and extensible solution It provides device clients for Symbian, SIMCards, J2ME and Microsoft Smartphone. In the platform roadmap there are well defined milestones for the new 3G clients, and others.

MobileKeeper is simple and easy to integrate add-on to every operator, service provider and retailer offering to deploy value added services which customers will be willing to pay for. Customers gain the ability to backup and restore sensitive data that resides on the phone. Their Mobile data is secured in a reliable, convenient and accessible way, with all privacy guaranteed. Operators and service providers deploy an effective tool for customer “disaster recovery”, increasing customer satisfaction and retention levels.
