September 27, 2011 - Offered in 5 case sizes from 0603-1812, VJ Series features voltage ratings from 10-3,000 Vdc with capacitance ranges of 1 pF to 22 nF with C0G dielectric, 120 pF to 1 µF with X5R/X7R dielectric, and 470 pF to 390 nF with X8R dielectric. Optional polymer terminations withstand bending stress, minimizing risk of short circuit due to board-flex cracking in automotive applications. Operating from -55 to +150°C, RoHS-compliant capacitors are halogen-free according to IEC 61249-2-21 definition.

Offering C0G and X5R/X7R/X8R Dielectrics, Capacitors Feature Voltage Ratings From 10 VDC to 3000 VDC and Capacitance Range of 1 pF to 1 µF

MALVERN, Pa. - In a move to decrease capacitor failures related to board-flex cracking, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today introduced its new VJ automotive series of surface-mount multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs), available with optional polymer terminations designed to withstand higher levels of bending stress. The devices are offered with C0G (NP0) and X5R/X7R/X8R dielectrics, each with a wide range of case sizes, voltage ratings, and capacitance values.
The VJ automotive series is available with flexible polymer terminations with 100 % tin-plate matte finish (VJ....31). The polymer terminations increase the bending ability of the capacitors, reducing the risk of a short circuit due to board-flex cracking in automotive under-the-hood, safety, and comfort electronics.

The capacitors released today are manufactured in noble metal electrode (NME) technology with a wet build process and are qualified according to AEC-Q200 with PPAP available on request. Typical applications for the devices will include sensors, engine/ignition control, boardnet management, power steering and active safety controls, and control for doors, windows, and air conditioning.

Offered in five case sizes from 0603 to 1812, the VJ automotive series with polymer terminations features high voltage ranges from 10 VDC to 3000 VDC. The devices offer a wide capacitance range of 1 pF to 22 nF (with C0G dielectric), 120 pF to 1 µF (with X5R/X7R dielectric), and 470 pF to 390 nF (with X8R dielectric), and a high operating temperature range of - 55 °C to + 150 °C. The capacitors provide a temperature coefficient of capacitance (TCC) of 0 ppm/°C ± 30 ppm/°C from - 55 °C to + 125 °C (C0G), ± 15 % from - 55 °C to + 85 °C (X5R), to + 125 °C (X7R), and to + 150 °C (X8R).
The devices are compliant to RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and halogen-free according to the IEC 61249-2-21 definition.

Samples and production quantities of the VJ automotive series capacitors are available now, with lead times starting from 11 weeks.
