Magnets Clean Coolant & Floors at IMTS '04

A host of magnetic products will fill the Storch Magnetics exhibit (Booth D-4714) at the 2004 IMTS exposition, though attracting a good deal of attention will be the company's display of its capabilities to custom engineer/integrate magnetic devices into manufacturing systems. Among the featured magnetic systems will be a cleaning system for parts washing of machined automotive cast iron components that incorporates magnetic conveyors and magnetic filtration separators along with bag filters and mist filtration units if required. The unit can also be incorporated with production CNC machines for chip processing and coolant cleaning. The magnetic system cleans machining coolants to 20 micron levels before bag filter media—ideal for high pressure applications and for extending the life of coolant, tools and machine components. Operational features of the individual elements, such as the magnetic conveyor and separator will be demonstrated while the system's overall performance will be illustrated.

A second major portion of the display will spotlight Storch's innovative magnetic slide conveyor design that enhances the unit's reliability, safety, and virtually maintenance-free operation. The non-jamming slide conveyors are well suited for conveying chips, large or unwieldy parts, for trim outs and scrap, for moving parts to assembly stations and draining fluids in applications involving large coolant volumes.

Other demonstrations will include examples of Storch's Magnetic Floor Sweepers models that keep work areas clean and safe by "sweeping" up metal debris, a wide variety of permanent, rare earth and electro-magnetic products, and an array of magnetic hand tools such as bolt & nut pickers, press feed tools, and heavy-duty lifting magnets.
