Automatic Tower Press Provides Two-Sided Filtration in Chemical Processing Applications


Two-sided filtration and cake squeezing within each filter chamber of the patented Hoesch DS automatic tower press differentiates it from all other filter presses currently available for chemical processing applications. These unique presses are now available throughout North America from Pannevis Inc., an Outokumpu technology company.

The Hoesch DS system is a totally enclosed tower press using polypropylene membranes arranged so that the filter cake only contacts the filter cloth. Elimination of a rubber membrane for cake squeezing results in a more efficient operation with much lower maintenance costs. Also, cake washing is extremely efficient and the discharged filter cake has very low moisture content. Cake discharge is to one side only for easy product recovery.

The materials of construction of the press are, as a minimum, stainless steel and polypropylene, with many other options available. Its totally enclosed design combined with the appropriate materials of construction makes the DS press especially suited for fine chemicals, industrial chemicals, mining, metallurgy and waste disposal. It also serves well in food & beverage, and pharmaceutical applications. It can be used in both solvent wetted processes and sanitary applications.

The filter is available in sizes from 19 - 1720 ft2 (1.8 m2 up to 160 m2) filtration area. Various corrosion resistant materials other than SS are also available.
