Employing bowl feeder and high-speed camera, ShadowGage Model J192 sorts small parts based on pre-programmed dimensional tolerances such as length, width, and diameter, and automatically places them into ACCEPT or REJECT bin. Machine inspects and sorts up to 10,000 parts/hr with accuracy of ±0.0001 in. Several models are offered for parts ranging in size from ¼-2 in. All measurements are available for data collection to file or via serial port.

High Speed Automatic Parts Sorter Performs 100% Inspection of Screw Machine, Cast, or Molded Parts
Bergenfield, NJ -- A new automatic inspection machine sorts small parts based on pre-programmed dimensional tolerances such as length, width, diameter, etc. Employing a convenient bowl feeder, high speed camera, and Resec's proprietary technology, the new sorter inspects each part and automatically places it into an ACCEPT or REJECT bin. Low in cost, the machine inspects and sorts up to 10,000 parts per hour with an accuracy of ± 0.0001 in. Several models are offered, for parts ranging in size from 1/4 in. to 2 in.
Dubbed the Model J192 ShadowGage Flat Platen Sorter, the unit is made by Resec Systems, Inc., Bergenfield, NJ, manufacturer of an extensive range of automated inspection and sorting systems.
In operation, parts are easily fed by a vibratory bowl feeder (or conveyor) onto a rotating glass platen which separates and individually positions them in front of the camera to create a precise top view; an optional second camera can capture a side view. By using both top and side views, the ShadowGage platen sorter can, for example, measure out-of-round and concentricity characteristics, as well as the axial profile, of a round part.
The measurements are performed by a video processor which captures the image(s) of each part, measures the pre-programmed feature(s), checks them against the programmed standards, and then controls an air blast to place the part in the appropriate ACCEPT or REJECT bin.
The sorter can be programmed for multiple parts, adding to its versatility. Complete software is included. All measurements are available for data collection to a file or via a serial port.
