Data I/O® Corporation Introduces PS Infinityâ„¢ Series Automated Programming System

Using breakthrough technology and capable of delivering 5000 programmed parts per hour, the offline system eclipses any known programming throughput.

Redmond, WA, November 13, 2002 - Data I/O® Corporation (NASDAQ:DAIO), the leading provider of manual and automated programming systems, announced the release of the PS Infinityâ„¢ Series Automated Programming System. Configured for high-volume tape-to-tape device programming, the PS Infinity is the world's fastest Flash programming system capable of testing, programming and verifying up to 5000 devices per hour.

"With the system already installed in some of our key accounts, we have delivered a truly remarkable programming system into the hands of our customers." said Jim Spray, strategic account manager for Data I/O. "Backed by an aggressive pricing program based on delivering the lowest cost per programmed part, we are giving our customers a significant cost advantage."

The PS Infinity Series contains the FlashCORE architecture, which is the foundation under a line of Flash programming systems capable of delivering the highest throughput on the market today. Covering the spectrum of automated inline, automated offline, and manual programmers, the FlashCORE based systems provide a broad range of functionality to suit the specific needs of designers and manufacturers in various electronics industries. Bundled with a high speed handler, the PS Infinity has two configurations that can be implemented to program up to 3000 or 5000 devices per hour, respectively.

"Over the competitive landscape, no other automated programming system has even come close to delivering the throughput of the PS Infinity, said Mark Briant, product manager at Data I/O. "Feedback from our customers have shown its changeover, testing and programming capabilities have shattered their previous notions of maximum throughput barriers."

Physical tests conducted by Data I/O on over 300 of the most popular Flash devices from companies such as Intel®, AMD®, Samsung®, ST Microelectronics®, M-Systems®, and SanDisk®, revealed significant gains in throughput over all known previous programming times, on any released programmers on the market today. Devices ranging in size from 1Mbit to 256Mbit were tested and the results consistently demonstrated a significant increase in throughput. For example, the PS Infinity 5000 is capable of programming a 32 Mbit device at a rate of 3,400 devices per hour. Subsequently, white papers written by AMD and Intel produced ringing endorsements of the FlashCORE based systems for programming their high-density Flash devices.

"Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) are requiring their manufacturing operations, either internal or contracted, to support higher-density Flash devices along with rapid, numerous code changes, all while pushing for a faster time-to-market", continued Mr. Spray. "The FlashCORE architecture and supporting software gives our programming systems the capability to offer our customers high throughput, accelerated return on investment, and increased efficiency in their firmware supply chains."
