Bridging the Gap between Cost and Throughput

Aurora Instruments launches a compact liquid handling system for genomics applications

Vancouver, Canada - Aurora Instruments Ltd., a world leader in lab automation solutions, will showcase the new VERSA(TM) 10 Automated Liquid Handling Workstation at Analytica (hall A1, stand 225) in Germany. The VERSA 10 has been developed to simplify laborious routine protocols by combining automated multi-channel dispensing (4 or 8 channels), with single-channel, cherry-picking functionality. The customizable system set-up, and optional deck modules allow users to automate a range of applications such as PCR/qPCR plate formatting, sequence reaction set-up, enzymatic modifications, and general liquid handling. Accommodating all common reagents and labware, the compact VERSA 10 offers liquid handling automation at an affordable price, making it ideal in hospital research, diagnostics, and agriculture research laboratories.

The VERSA 10 accommodates 96- and 384-well formats, and allows PCR set-up in 96-well plates in only 6 minutes. Each dispense is highly accurate, and the air displacement pipetting prevents cross-contamination - an essential requirement for DNA and other studies - so researchers can be sure of reliable and reproducible results. Optional modules such as plate heaters, reagent coolers, and shakers enhance the workstation's functionality, and with lab space at a premium, the VERSA 10 has been designed with the smallest possible footprint to fit in limited bench top spaces. The VERSA 10 therefore offers users a customized automated liquid handling system designed to meet their required applications, which maximizes throughput within a compact footprint.

Also on show at the Aurora Instruments stand (hall A1, stand 225) at Analytica, are the VERSA 1100 SPE solid phase extraction workstation, the VERSA 1100 NAP/PCR system for genomic applications, and the VERSA 110 Spotter for arraying nucleic acids and proteins. Visitors to the stand will also be able to see Aurora Instruments' analytical product line, which includes the TRACE 1300 atomic absorption spectrometer the LUMINA 3330 atomic fluorescence spectrometer and the TRANSFORM 800 for microwave digestion.
