DiCon Unveils GP750 Automated Fiber Optic Test System

RICHMOND, CA (September 15, 2009)-DiCon Fiberoptics announces the new GP750 platform, a rack-mountable fiber optic switch unit for automated fiber management setups in integrated test systems. Evolved from the successful GP700 platform, the GP750 presents an innovative modular design, upgraded control panel and new Ethernet interface. These enhancements provide added performance, versatility, and reliability, achieving accurate test results quickly and confidently.

The biggest feature of the GP750 is complete modularity. The basic chassis comes with a control module and a power supply module that can both be replaced with spares, minimizing any possible downtime for mission critical operations. Additionally, there are slots that accommodate up to eight standard size plug-in units. These units are designed for hot swappable operations and can be installed or uninstalled easily.

The new control panel includes a color display and simplified navigation buttons. Plug-and-play status is clearly shown on the screen, and selection of slots and functions is straightforward via the tiered control scheme. With advanced graphics, programmable keyboard macros, and memory recall, the front panel is extremely user-friendly and enables anyone to begin testing right out of the box.

In addition to its user-friendly control panel, the GP750 offers extensive remote connectivity options. Besides manual, GPIB, and RS-232 interfaces, the GP750 supports Ethernet, allowing you to control and troubleshoot the GP750 locally or from a computer halfway around the world.

Aside from its hardware features, the GP750's internal optical components are also updated. The new platform is designed to use the latest MEMS components from DiCon, including MEMS optical switches, MEMS optical attenuators, MEMS optical tunable filters, and MEMS optical power equalizer. Robust and durable, these MEMS products have surpassed billions of cycles of operation during lifetime testing, allowing the new GP750 platform to perform superbly in any demanding operation for long periods of time.
