Entrust's Versatile Authentication Platform Addresses Critical Enterprise Authentication Needs with Wide Range of Choices
Latest Release of Entrust IdentityGuard Adds Key Administrator Authentication to the Mix
DALLAS, April 9, 2008 - For enterprise authentication, organizations want to leverage more choices for remote access to desktops and web based applications, extending the need for a layered approach to security. Adding to its already extensive range of authentication choices, Entrust, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTU) has added critical administrator authentication support for Windows and Unix to its versatile authentication platform, Entrust IdentityGuard.
"Top enterprises, financial institutions and global governments continue to see the value in deploying a versatile authentication platform that is easy to deploy, simple for the end-user and cost-effective," said Entrust Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Conner. "That recognition has been the catalyst for the amazing growth and respect for Entrust IdentityGuard as it continues to serve as an affordable, flexible solution for security- conscious organizations seeking strong authentication for consumer and enterprise users."
Built on standards like Web services and Radius, Entrust IdentityGuard easily fits into an organization to protect critical enterprise assets. This includes the ability to protect remote access applications (e.g., IP-Sec and SSL VPN, Citrix); Web applications, including Microsoft Outlook(R) Web Access; and Microsoft Windows desktops. New to the product, Entrust IdentityGuard also can now strongly authenticate administrators accessing Microsoft Windows servers, both locally and remotely. Entrust IdentityGuard will introduce support for protecting administrator access to Unix servers, giving deploying organizations the ability to protect users and servers across a heterogeneous environment.
Entrust IdentityGuard is recognized as a benchmark for strong multifactor authentication and helps address a range of security and regulatory legislation requirements. Leading financial institutions, enterprises and government agencies have deployed the platform, including Expedia, Commerce Bank, Bank of New Zealand, Banco Santander Santiago, Goteborg University, Ministry of Economic Development of New Zealand, SCHUFA, Arbetsformedligen, Alaska Law Enforcement Information Sharing System, Vejle Amt, Aristex, Swedish National Labor Market Administration, Skanska and more.
Entrust IdentityGuard enables organizations to layer security - according to access requirements or the risk of a given transaction - across diverse users and applications. The platform's authentication options include username and password, IP-geolocation, machine/device, questions and answers, out-of-band one-time passcode (delivered via voice, SMS or e-mail), grid cards and a range of one-time-password tokens -- priced as low as $5 each. Entrust IdentityGuard also provides multiple methods of supporting mutual authentication, including picture and caption replay
A testament to the strength of the platform, SC Magazine, a well-respected IT security publication, named Entrust an industry innovator in a December 2007 feature for the development and growth of the solution. The accolade stated: "The key factor that makes Entrust and the IdentityGuard visionary is the ideology that multifactor authentication does not have to be complicated to manage or expensive to implement. With inexpensive custom-made grid cards and tokens that cost only about $5 a piece, we expect to see IdentityGuard in more places very soon."
The platform's risk-based authentication capability enables organizations to assess a level of risk to a transaction based on the Internet protocol (IP) address, and then decide to further authenticate the user if required. Although typically thought of in consumer environments, Entrust IdentityGuard also can provide risk-based authentication using IP-geolocation authentication for remote access environments. This offers organizations a transparent method to more effectively identifying users, with the ability to step up the authentication strength with a range of multifactor capabilities versus traditional one-size-fits-all solutions.
Entrust IdentityGuard can be deployed with Entrust TransactionGuard, Entrust's Zero Touch Fraud Detection solution, to provide organizations with a highly effective and comprehensive solution for risk-based authentication.
