Audio Precision Provides Automotive Audio Manufacturers with New Four-Channel APx Series Audio Analyzer

APx521 and APx526 round out APx family with 2, 4, 8 or 16 channel models now available

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 3 -- AES -- Audio Precision, the recognized standard in audio test, today unveiled two new four-channel models of its award-winning APx500 Series audio analyzer. The APx521 and APx526 offer the same performance, high speed and one-click measurements as the APx520 and 525, but with four analog input channels instead of two. Like the APx525, the APx526 includes a 192K digital I/O.

APx521 and APx526 are ideal for testing automotive audio systems, which typically have two analog inputs and four outputs, often accompanied by some digital I/O. Analog performance of both models is second only to AP's 2700 Series, with a typical THD+N of -108 dB (at 1 kHz, 2.5V). For systems with higher channel counts, the APx585 or APx586 are recommended.

With the addition of these new models, AP now offers audio engineers and production testers a choice of 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels so they can configure the ideal analyzer for their requirements without compromising features or performance.

"When we introduced the two-channel APx models in May, our automotive customers were impressed, but they immediately came back and said they needed four channels," said Bruce Hofer, Co-founder and Chairman of Audio Precision. "AP has always been very responsive to our customers' requests, so I'm happy to declare that, true to form, we have provided what was asked for."

About APx Series audio analyzers

The APx Series of audio analyzers has the most advanced audio measurement user interface in the world and is capable of taking 14 measurements in as few as 7 seconds. Users can run tests with one click or define sequences of measurements with multiple signal paths, pass/fail limits and automatically generated reports. All models run the same software, allowing for easy sharing of data between colleagues.

For bench testing, APx has real-time signal monitors including residual THD+N in oscilloscope view and a one million point FFT. For production test, there is an extensive API with sample code for programmers working in Visual Basic.NET, C# and LabVIEW.

The APx Series offers several different models to meet the exact requirements of engineers and production testers.

o APx520 -- Two analog inputs and outputs; no digital I/O.
o APx521 -- Four analog inputs and two analog outputs; no digital I/O.
o APx525 -- Two analog inputs and outputs plus 192K digital I/O.
o APx526 -- Four analog inputs and two analog outputs plus 192K digital I/O.
o APx585 -- Eight analog inputs and outputs plus 192K digital I/O. HDMI input/output option available.
o APx586 -- Sixteen analog inputs and eight outputs plus 192K digital I/O.

Price and Availability

Pricing for the APx family in the US starts at $9900 for the APx520 and $14,000 for the APx521. Upgrades for two channel models are available. Price may vary in other countries. All AP Sales Partners will accept orders for the new APx521 and APx526 models starting November 11, and the first units will ship in mid-December 2008.
