Attendant Console with Braille Display

MUNICH and HALLBERGMOOS, Germany, --

- Visually Impaired and Blind Persons can use ANDTEK's Attendant Console Solution to the Full Extent

ANDTEK's attendant console solution "AND Desktop AC" is now available in a version including braille display. This way visually impaired and blind persons can use all functions of the attendant console. Users of the attendant console solution of the unified communications specialist ANDTEK can e.g. get an overview about the status of all phones within the company and they can generate call statistics like the average call duration.

The use of communications workplaces for blind persons is a major factor especially in public institutions and with public authorities, since there are legal requirements.

Blind persons obtain the important information via a braille display respectively a braille line being installed under the keyboard at the conventional workplace. This way the blind person gets a tactile feedback about the most important display contents. Standard phones with headsets are used as phones.

The user selects an address directory via shortcut and directly enters the requested name. The results appear shortened on the braille line. Then the requested entry is confirmed and the phone number is dialed automatically.

"With this solution blind employees can use office and telecommunications software in daily routine in a complete and trouble-free way," says Klaus Lindemann of BAUM Retec AG, the leading specialist in products and services for blind and visually impaired people. BAUM Retec AG developed and customized the braille line especially for the attendant console.

"Even persons having a high degree of visual impairment have the opportunity to use the entire range of communication offered by modern systems," says ANDTEK manager Roland Russwurm.
