New Autoload MK4.0 From Avdel North America

Increases Speed Fastening® Productivity By 75 Percent
48 Blind Fasteners Per Minute Installed
Booth 1931 Assembly Technology Expo 2007

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (Sept. 7, 2007) - A new assembly system from Avdel® North America installs up to 48 blind fasteners per minute, reducing costs and increasing productivity up to 75 percent over conventional placement methods.

The new Autoload(TM) MK4.0 tool feeds blind fasteners continuously and directly to the application tool nosepiece. When fasteners on one mandrel are spent, a fully loaded batch automatically replaces it. The switchover takes six seconds versus 30 seconds for manual load systems.

"The Autoload(TM) MK4.0 tool is the fastest assembly system of its type on the market, and adds a new dimension to Avdel® Speed Fastening®," said Phil Szuba, director and general manager of Avdel North America. "It provides our automotive, industrial, appliance, and electronic customers with a major competitive and qualitative advantage in high-volume fastening processes."

Szuba said that Autoload(TM) MK4.0 places the full range of Avdel® Speed Fastening® types in many standards sizes. These include Avdel® Briv® speed fasteners for large bearing areas in soft materials, Avdel® Rivscrew® threaded rivets, and Avdel® Chobert® speed fasteners for light clamp to reduce potential damage to soft and brittle materials.
Fasteners are installed with Avdel® 753 hydraulic/pneumatic power tools, offering repetitive, multiple fastening feed for rapid and reliable high-speed blind side applications. The system automatically rejects any misshapen fasteners without interrupting the application process.

At a compact 28"x26", the Autoload(TM) MK4.0 tool is half the size of its predecessor models. It installs quickly and easily in assembly stations and can be operational within minutes.
