Original Press Release:

Petro-Pak(TM) Application Package

Rigaku is proud to announce the release of its Petro-Pak Application Package*. The package is designed to implement ASTM 2622, ASTM 5059 and ASTM 6334 compliant methods for all hydrocarbon based fuels on specific Rigaku instruments.

The application package consists of an installation CD that contains the programs and procedures for the specific instrument, a manual describing the implementation and maintenance of the package, a series of calibration reference standards for setting up the calibration curves and a set of drift monitor standards for maintaining the instrument at peak operating performance.

Also included is a quality control standard for ongoing validation of the methods and for tracking long-term performance and ensuring that the instrument stays within the ASTM 2622 mandated performance limits. External validation of performance will be carried out by participation in a Performance Monitoring Program offered through an independent third party. Currently Rigaku uses the VHG Labs Performance Monitoring Program and the ASTM Performance Monitoring Program. Customers have a choice of vendors.

Petro-Pak is specifically designed to run on the ZSX-Petro, the Supermini and the Mini-Z Sulfur platforms. Each instrument is configured to offer petroleum industry specific analytical data at strategic points in the exploration, drilling, refining, blending and marketing processes and the Petro-Pak application is set up to meet the need at that point.

With the introduction of this package, Rigaku offers the petroleum industry a full range of XRF solutions for measuring sulfur, chlorine, nickel, vanadium, iron and any other elements in the full range of petrochemical materials from exploration crude oil to blended products sold to end users. The package offers an easy way to attain compliance with recognized industry standards and a method for maintaining the standard with on-going external validation procedures.

Petro-Pak will soon be joined by Oil-Pak(TM) offering a full range of XRF solutions to lube oil blending processes

* Note: Petro-Pak is only available in North America
