Application Deployment Automation Tool optimizes traceability.
August 13, 2012 -
Providing additional levels of control with Environment Gating, uDeploy v4.7 allows users to enforce particular promotion path for artifacts. Program also includes complete history of everything that has been deployed. Users can track changes to specific configuration and deploy particular version of configuration in snapshot. With optimized parameterization of Component Templates, users can define what properties must be specified by components using template.

uDeploy 4.7 Released
CLEVELAND, -- UrbanCode, makers of build, deploy, provisioning, and release automation software, today announced the release of version 4.7 of uDeploy - their deployment automation tool. The latest version improves upon the software's visibility, flexibility, and functionality through the addition of several key features.
The features in uDeploy 4.7 are a direct response to customer feedback. First, the need for added security is on the rise in the IT community. As a result, uDeploy now provides additional levels of control with Environment Gating, which allows users to enforce a particular promotion path for artifacts. For example, you can set a status that says, "In order for an environment to push to PROD, it must first have passed SIT and UAT." If it fails either of these, it cannot be promoted to production. These gates give users peace of mind knowing that the version being promoted has already passed the required tests. There is also additional security around who is allowed to apply a status and permit a version into production.
uDeploy 4.7 also features a complete history of everything that has been deployed. Users can now track changes to a specific configuration, and can deploy a particular version of a configuration in a snapshot. Building on this, the changelog has been upgraded; providing greater visibility into who changed what. Additionally, the release features richer parameterization of Component Templates. Users are now able to define what properties must be specified by components using the template.
"We're really excited about uDeploy 4.7," said Matt Wagner, Lead Developer. "We packed this release with features that directly address requests made by our customers. They're the ones in the trenches, using the software on a daily basis, so they're a terrific resource for helping us to improve. We're confident that uDeploy 4.7 will continue to set the bar for deployment automation in our industry, and continue to help companies achieve faster time-to-market while eliminating errors."
uDeploy 4.7 features:
-- Environment Gating: Status-based rules for when a version may enter an environment
-- All Properties in Versioned Configuration: View a detailed history of deployments and changes
-- Enhanced Component Templates: Mandatory properties for consumers and manual task definitions
-- Import/Export Configuration: Ability to export component/app configurations to a file. Imports can now create or update an existing configuration
-- Special "Configuration Deployment" Process: Permit configuration-only deployments as well as traditional code and configuration deployments. Also, view what version of a configuration is running on what machine
UrbanCode enables organizations to deliver software to production servers faster (physical, virtual, or cloud); resulting in decreased time to market, and accelerated pace of innovation through end-to-end software delivery. uDeploy, our Deployment Automation product, establishes repeatable, error-free, scalable application deployment processes, and provides visibility into what version is where. uBuild, our Build Management product, establishes repeatable and traceable build processes for large organizations with hundreds or thousands of developers, and provides visibility into organizational best practices; allowing development teams to scale while maintaining quality. Our approach is to harness the innate capabilities of computers to handle repetitive tasks in an error-free manner, thus freeing employees to engage in critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving.
