NEI Delivers More Affordable Performance to Branch Office and Remote Applications

New Low-Cost Appliances Extend Market Life and Feature Intel® Atom(TM) 330 Processor to Boost Compute Power

CANTON, Mass., June 15 / / - NEI (NASDAQ:NENG), a leading provider of application platforms, appliances and support services for software developers, OEMs and service providers worldwide, today announced the availability of two new low-cost, long-life appliance platforms. The S-650 and S1100 are designed to host and better manage branch office and remote applications that require advanced network computing and connectivity in a low profile, purpose-built box. Both new "S" series solutions feature the Intel Atom 330 processor, more affordable performance, quiet operation and five-year market availability.

The S-650 is a set-top box that houses up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a single fixed 2.5 inch SATA HDD and two high-speed Gigabit Ethernet ports. The S-1100 is offered as a mini 1U rack mount device with user-specified front or rear facing I/O ports, up to 2GB DDR2 RAM, a single fixed 3.5 inch or dual fixed 2.5 inch SATA HDDs. Both systems support Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems and are covered by a standard two-year limited warranty.

"Branch office and remote environments often present unique performance and network challenges to software providers that need to deploy their applications in distributed networks," said Jeff Hudgins, vice president of marketing, NEI. "While this is a cost-sensitive segment of the market, it nevertheless demands greater and more scalable performance from application platforms. With a $500 entry-level price point, the S-650 and S-1100 allow customers to affordably address these challenges head on. They interoperate seamlessly with NEI's mid-range appliances to provide a scalable, hierarchical solution to common distributed networking requirements."

When integrated with NEI's award-winning Smart Services (optional), these new appliances can be remotely monitored, managed and updated.

Pricing and Availability

Evaluation units of the S-650 and S1100 are available now. Base configuration pricing starts at $500. NEI offers customers a variety of lifecycle services and maintenance programs to ensure high availability and rapid response in a variety of coverage plans.
