Sunbelt Software Upgrades Its Award-Winning CounterSpy Product Line
Enhances antispyware offering for consumers and introduces a new management console for enterprises
SAN FRANCISCO - RSA Conference - Sunbelt Software, a leading provider of Windows security software, today announced a significant upgrade to its CounterSpy® endpoint antispyware product line. Based on Sunbelt's improved Version 4.0 technology platform, CounterSpy 4.0 offers consumers the same comprehensive spyware and malware protection and many of the same under-the-hood enhancements as the recently released VIPRE® Antivirus 4.0, while CounterSpy Enterprise 4.0 includes a new management console and multi-site tiering model as found in VIPRE Enterprise 4.0 (See related announcements, "Sunbelt Software Announces Major Upgrade to VIPRE Enterprise, Expands Line to Include New Premium Edition," and "Sunbelt Software Announces Major Upgrades to its VIPRE and CounterSpy Product Lines").
Following the announcement of the new Version 4.0 platform and VIPRE enhancements, Sunbelt improves the capabilities of CounterSpy as a pure-play antispyware solution. CounterSpy includes the major functionality upgrades found in VIPRE 4.0, without features specific to antivirus detection and remediation. This next-generation technology provides powerful spyware protection against highly complex malware threats, with high performance and none of the resource utilization issues associated with competitive antispyware products.

CounterSpy 4.0
CounterSpy 4.0 includes notable enhancements such as improved support for removable drives; enhanced support for 64-bit environments, including a 64-bit boot cleaner and 64-bit rootkit scanner; support for Mozilla Firefox Scan Extensions, and other overall quality improvements to improve efficiency and performance.
CounterSpy Enterprise 4.0
CounterSpy Enterprise 4.0 includes a new client agent and leverages the completely redesigned management console found in the VIPRE 4.0 architecture to deliver a highly scalable and flexible multi-site tiering model.
Multi-site management and role-based access control: This new functionality provides system administrators and managed services providers the ability to manage medium and large-scale infrastructures with multiple offices and locations. Multiple sites can be controlled from one central console by tiering through granular role-based access control or multi-site configuration.
Pricing and availability
Both versions of Counterspy are currently available and priced aggressively for all corporate and home environments. They include one year of support, updates, and product upgrades.
Customers of the existing versions of CounterSpy 3.1 and CounterSpy Enterprise 3.1 under subscription and maintenance plans will receive the new CounterSpy 4.0 at no charge.
CounterSpy Enterprise pricing includes the first year maintenance and starts at $18.90 per seat for 100 workstations with a sliding scale volume discount based on number of machines.
CounterSpy consumer pricing for a single user annual subscription is $19.95, or an unlimited home license is $39.95 and protects all PCs in a single household.
CounterSpy is compatible with both 32 and 64 bit version of Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. Fully functioning trial evaluations of both versions of CounterSpy are available on Sunbelt Software's website at www.sunbeltsoftware.com.
