Bosch Extends Its Flexidome Camera Series with New Varifocal Lens

Enhanced viewing possibilities from close-up to 40 meters

o Extended viewing possibilities, from viewing objects close-up to general surveillance
o Wide horizontal and vertical coverage
o Large aperture provides enhanced sensitivity and fast reaction to light-level changes

Bosch Security Systems is expanding its FlexiDome camera series with a new 9 - 22 millimeter varifocal lens. The new lens significantly extends viewing possibilities, from viewing close objects such as a person walking through a doorway, to surveillance of long indoor corridors or walkways alongside the exterior of a building.

The 9 --22 mm varifocal lens provides wide area coverage up to 31.2° horizontal and 22.8° vertical, and telephoto coverage up to 12.8° horizontal and 9.6° vertical, enabling surveillance system operators to identify a person positioned up to 40 meters away from the camera. The lens is IR-corrected to keep FlexiDome Day/Night cameras in focus at all times, and has an f-stop of f/1.4 to allow a greater amount of light to pass through the lens to the image sensor - resulting in enhanced sensitivity and fast reaction to light-level changes.

The new lens is available both for analog and for FlexiDome IP cameras which offer superior digital image quality in a vandal-resistant dome enclosure. Both analog and FlexiDome IP cameras incorporate a full set of intelligent features, including Auto Black to reduce the effects of fog or glare, NightSense to compensate for fading light, and backlight compensation for clear viewing of entrances and exits. Day/Night cameras also deliver improved sensitivity with extended dynamic range, allowing every detail to show up in highlight and lowlight areas of a scene. In addition, FlexiDome IP cameras add MPEG-4 video encoding for efficient utilization of storage and bandwidth.
