November 15, 2006 - Able to sense ferrous and non-ferrous metals, AccuProx(TM) Sensors output electrical signal that varies proportionately to position of metal target within sensing range. Available with both current and voltage outputs on same unit, sensors come in shielded and unshielded models in 12, 18, and 30 mm tubular barrels with variety of connection options. Applications include error-proofing, material blemish detection, absolute angle detection, and part positioning.

Eaton Introduces New Analog Proximity Sensor Line With Unmatched Measurement Range

PITTSBURGH ... Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today introduced AccuProx(TM), a new family of analog inductive proximity sensors that can sense objects up to four times that of typical shielded and unshielded tubular analog sensors without compromising output accuracy.

With long-range, tight repeat accuracy and linear outputs, AccuProx sensors are ideal for applications that require precise position sensing and measurement or detection of small variances, such as error-proofing, saw blade deflection, material blemish detection, absolute angle detection and part positioning.

Unlike a standard inductive sensor, which outputs an open or close signal based upon target presence or absence, an analog sensor outputs an electrical signal that varies proportionately to the position of a metal target within its sensing range. AccuProx sensors can also sense ferrous and non-ferrous metals (i.e., steel, aluminum, copper, etc.) and can be used to assure proper distance, size and thickness for various types of measurements.

"Historically, the very short ranges of traditional analog sensors have restricted their use to very precise applications involving very small target travel distances," said product manager, Joel Knutowski. "With the additional range of AccuProx-up to 25 millimeters-it's now possible to have an analog sensing solution in a whole new variety of longer-range applications."

AccuProx sensors are available with both current and voltage outputs on the same sensor. Both shielded and unshielded models are available in 12, 18 and 30-millimeter tubular barrels with a variety of connection options.
