Universal Dimensionair® gauges are adjustable-magnification air comparators that can work as single- or dual-master air gauging system. Along with built-in magnification and zeroing controls, products feature user-set system sensitivity and interchangeable dials for magnifications from 1,250:1 to 10,000:1 in inch or metric scales. Gages, supplied with air filter, fixed regulator, air supply hose, and one dial, allow tooling to be mounted directly on front of unit.

PROVIDENCE, RI -- Mahr Federal has introduced a new capability to its proven
Dimensionair(r) line of air gaging: the ability to use either single or dual master air tooling. Based on the precision of the standard Mahr Federal Dimensionair, the innovative Universal Dimensionair is part of a new series of adjustable magnification air comparators which combines the best of a differential air system--excellent stability, accuracy and fast response--with the ability to work both as a single master or dual master air gaging system.
In single master systems, the gage is calibrated to zero or a reference measurement, and the user relies on the gage system accuracy to determine tolerance limits. Dual master systems use two masters to calibrate maximum and minimum. For go/no-go applications, the air gage is usually calibrated with both masters or setting gages set for both tolerances.
When calibrated with Mahr Federal restrictor kits, the Universal Dimensionair offers the same performance and stability as a standard Dimensionair, and can be used with Mahr Federal tooling and one master for fast, single mastering air gage applications.
With the addition of built-in magnification and zeroing controls, the Universal Dimensionair is also capable of acting as a dual master air gage comparator. By selecting the appropriate dial configuration, the Universal Dimensionair can be adjusted for use with virtually any dual master air tooling or span master.
The user sets system sensitivity (scale factor) by adjusting the air comparator span to correspond to the difference between minimum and maximum setting masters, thus setting the sensitivity of all the components of the gaging system. A zeroing control brings the span to a balanced position on the dial.
Air gaging has increased in popularity in recent years as part tolerances have gotten tighter. It is fast and accurate, readily used in production environments, and the gages even help clean parts by blowing dirt away. The flexibility of the adjustable balanced air system on the new Universal Dimensionair provides stable, reliable results, and allows for single mastering or dual master setup quickly and easily.
The Universal Dimensionair is available with a wide range of interchangeable dials for selecting magnifications from 1250:1 to 10,000:1 in inch or metric scales. Dials are quickly exchanged by a snap-off bezel that allows for easy changing while protecting the gage from contamination from the shop environment. The classic analog dial provides fast visual representation of size and degree of good/bad or approaching readings. Also available are tooling adaptors to allow virtually any brand of air gage tooling to be easily adapted to the air gage.
The Universal Dimensionair's configuration allows for tooling to be mounted directly on the front of the unit. This lets the Universal Dimensionair act as a bench gage where the parts are brought to the air tooling. When the parts are too large for a bench mounted gage, a hose and handle assembly provide portable measurement on the part.
Supplied with air filter, fixed regulator, air supply hose and one standard dial, the Universal Dimensionair is ready to be connected to standard shop air, out on the shop floor or in an inspection area for fast, stable and precise air gage measurements.
