National Semiconductor Introduces QMLV-Qualified Precision Amplifier for Satellite Applications

LMP2012WGLQMLV Eliminates 1/F Noise, Offers Unparalleled Levels of Accuracy and Stability over Time and Temperature

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 27 /- National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) today announced the first dual amplifier in its new family of precision operational amplifiers specifically QMLV-qualified for space-level applications. The LMP2012WGLQMLV dual operational amplifier is ideal for satellite applications such as attitude and orbital controls, sun and inertial sensors, gyroscopes, pressure sensors, static earth sensing, bolometers and earth observation systems.

The LMP2012WGLQMLV is a rail-to-rail output operational amplifier that uses patented techniques to measure and continually correct the input offset error voltage, while eliminating the unwanted 1/f voltage and current noise present in traditional amplifiers. This results in a high-performance amplifier that offers unparalleled levels of accuracy and stability over time and temperature. The device is radiation tested to 50K rad (Si) and displays excellent common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) and power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) ratings of 90 dB over the full space temperature range. Operating from a supply voltage of 2.7V to 5V, the LMP2012WGLQMLV provides superior performance in transducer amplifiers, high-gain configurations, analog-to-digital converter (ADC) buffer amplifiers and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) current-to-voltage conversion applications.

The LMP2012WGLQMLV offers low input offset voltage of 60 microvolts over the extended temperature range of -55 degrees C to 125 degrees C, 4V/microsecond of slew rate and a wide gain-bandwidth of 3 MHz for accurate signal amplification. Other key specifications include input-referred voltage noise of 35 nV/sqrt Hz and open-loop gain greater than 100 dB.
