College Point, NY, 11356, USA

Ansan, Republic of Korea. Interplex Quantum, a world-class supplier of precision die cast components and a division of Interplex Industries, Inc., announced today that it has introduced its new IK500 alloy, a high-strength, high-fluidity aluminum alloy targeted for use in mobile device housing applications.

IK500 has a tensile strength of 520 MPa, sixty-eight percent higher than ADC12, the world's most common aluminum alloy. It also possesses a low melting point and can be recycled. Thus it is an environmentally friendly alloy.

"Interplex continues to innovate new technologies that meet the growing demands of our customers," said Steven Feinstein, Executive Vice President of Interplex Industries. "As mobile devices become increasingly complex in terms of design and functionally, they require housings made from alloys that can withstand rugged environmental conditions. IK500 is quickly becoming the alloy to meet these stringent challenges."

Interplex Quantum was established in 2004 to provide die casting services utilizing its proprietary center-gate technology to produce aluminum and zinc precision components. The company specializes in thin-walled, complex-shaped components requiring cosmetic finishes, such as electroplating, electro-deposition, PVD and a shiny metallic spray. Its technology can be found in mobile device housings, sliding and rotating hinge modules, brackets and heat sinks.

Founded in 1958, Interplex Industries, Inc. is headquartered in College Point, NY. The company continues to expand its technology and capabilities in the areas of product design and application development services, metal etching, prototyping, tool design and build, precision metal stamping, die casting, precision machining, plating and finishing, insert and injection molding, assembly and full scale automation services around the world. Interplex currently provides its services to the communications, electronics, industrial, medical and automotive markets and has facilities in the United States, Mexico, China, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Korea, Scotland, France, Germany and Hungary.
