New Corrosion-Resistant Aluminum Die-Casting Alloy Represented by MDW Technologies

A new, more robust die-casting alloy has been developed and patented

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., May 19 / -- Die-Casting suppliers can now offer their customers a new alloy that provides corrosion resistance and better heat transfer than A360, A380 and A413. This patented material called Delphi K-Alloy substantially improves corrosion resistance when compared to today's best commercially available alloys. Even the best of these alloys may require expensive coatings or special designs to meet customer performance specifications.

"An outdoor lighting company has successfully completed 3000 hours of salt spray testing of Delphi K-Alloy without coatings," according to Marty Newman, Chief Technology Officer for MDW Technologies.

K-Alloy is available in commercial quantities and is being used in a high volume automotive application. The physical properties of the Delphi K-Alloy are: 25,000 psi yield strength versus 23,000 psi for A380 and better elongation at 5.1% for Delphi K-Alloy and 3.8% for A380.

o Die casting products can be produced using current dies without dimensional changes.

o Current die-cast equipment needs no modification to process K-Alloy.

o Application experience available for die casting opportunities in: Marine and Outdoor products such as lighting, electrical enclosures, and motors.

o Delphi K-Alloy may be used in place of stainless steel in qualified applications.

o Good paint adhesion without extensive pretreatment
o Trial quantities are now available.
o Additional technical information is available upon request.
