Burlington, ON - (May 26, 2009) - WheelabratorŽ automated airblast systems have been designed specifically for peening applications within the mining industry. Using precision, multiple-axis nozzle manipulation and part movement, Wheelabrator systems allow for flexibility and repeatability to peen internal passages (ID) and outer passages (OD) of rock drill bits. The blast cabinet is constructed of steel for reduced maintenance and resistance to wear. A typical design uses a Rotary table that is door mounted allowing for easy part loading and unloading. The table design permits the drill bit to be in a 'shank down position' while peening the face and button hole. The systems are adaptable for addressing changing customer process needs (i.e. shot, cut wire, etc.).
