Rittal’s TopTherm Air/Air Heat Exchanger Provides Outstanding Cooling, Protection

SPRINGFIELD, OH, July 2004 – Rittal Corporation introduces the new TopTherm air/air heat exchanger for enclosures. Designed to provide outstanding cooling and environmental protection, the TopTherm air/air heat exchanger is the ideal solution for industrial enclosures requiring internal cabinet cooling using ambient air. With electronics becoming smaller and more powerful, heat loads can significantly increase, causing the need for superior cooling for the interiors of enclosures to ensure equipment reliability and help prevent costly production downtime. In addition to superior cooling, this exchanger is UL recognized and provides excellent protection against the penetration of dust particles, humidity and dirt.

Constructed of sheet steel, the compact TopTherm system features a seamlessly sealed aluminum heat exchanger module with a protection category of Nema 12/IP 54 to EN 60 529/10.91 for superior resistance to dust and water ingress. This heat exchanger module is easily removed and cleaned for low-cost maintenance.

With thermal output ranges from 17.5 to 90 W/K, the TopTherm air/air heat exchanger also is designed with external and internal air circuits that can be controlled separately so air flow can be optimized for ambient conditions. The motors of all TopTherm system fans are equipped with thermal winding protection.

The air/air heat exchanger can be mounted on the inside or outside of the enclosure. The slim design allows for easy external mounting on the door, rear panel and side panels.
Tested in accordance with international GS and UL standards, TopTherm air/air heat exchangers guarantee outstanding protection for electronics.
