NAVTEQ LocationPoint Advertising Services Unveiled at CES


New channel for advertisers, new revenue stream for location-based services (LBS) publishers and device manufacturers

CHICAGO, Jan. 7 -- NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, today announced the launch of NAVTEQ LocationPoint(TM) Advertising, a new mobile location-based advertising service. NAVTEQ LocationPoint offers location aware applications and devices a turnkey approach for subsidizing high value content services, while enabling advertisers to reach and engage consumers where and when they are making shopping and purchasing decisions.

NAVTEQ LocationPoint leverages NAVTEQ data including the most widely used map for navigation which consumers around the world depend on 100 million times every day. NAVTEQ LocationPoint provides inclusion of advertiser storefront information in the NAVTEQ map and helps millions of users of GPS navigation devices find, and find their way to, these storefronts. NAVTEQ LocationPoint also enables advertisers to proactively promote their locations with interactive targeting of consumers in the vicinity of their storefronts. Advertisers are able to deliver to these in-market consumers a variety of rich and highly engaging campaigns to drive awareness, store visits and purchases.

NAVTEQ LocationPoint is platform independent and can be utilized with any connected portable navigation device or mobile phone application to deliver highly targeted, relevant and actionable advertising to end users. Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, was the first to join with NAVTEQ to bring an ad-supported navigation device to market, offering free lifetime traffic in North America available on two of its most popular device lines -- the 2x5 and 7x5 series. Advertisers can engage consumers using these Garmin devices with an array of innovative calls to action including click to map, click to navigate and click to coupon.
