Ault Incorporated Announces Mobile Power Adapter, Ideal for Powering Laptops

MINNEAPOLIS – March 24, 2003 – In response to the sharp increase for on-the-go, portable power, Ault Incorporated, a leading North American manufacturer of external power conversion products (Nasdaq: AULT), has launched its Transport 75 Mobile Power Adapter. The new adapter powers consumer products, including more than 200 laptop computer models, in vehicles with 12Vdc output and sports a trim styling that allows it to fit easily into a briefcase or a car’s glove compartment. The Transport 75 comes with a three-year warranty.

For external power supply safety, the 12- to 16Vdc-input adapters will automatically shut down if the case temperature rises above 60 degrees C for more than 30 minutes, and will restart when the case temperature falls below 45 degrees C. To protect laptops, the adapters automatically shut down if their output is greater than 120–150 percent greater than the rated output voltage. For further protection, the adapters engage power with an input above 10.5Vdc, and shut down when the input falls below 9Vdc. To protect against input overvoltage the adapter shuts down when the input is greater than 16.3Vdc, plus or minus 300mV. It provides auto recovery when output drops below 15.8Vdc, plus or minus 300mV.

Ault offers seven models to meet the low-power requirements for a broad range of portable electronic devices and features the following output voltages (Vdc): 15.7, 16.2, 18.2, 19.2, 20.2, 22.1, and 24.1.

The adapter measures 3.55 (L) X 2.10 (W) X 1.24 (H) in., weighs less than 8 ounces (227g) and carries safety agency approvals for CULus 1950, UL2089, and TUV EN60950.

The new adapter is available at a suggested retail price of $95 USD. OEM and distribution pricing available for volume purchases.

Ault is the largest independent manufacturer of power conversion products based in North America. The company is the leading supplier to OEMs in the datacom/telecom convergence market, wireline and wireless communications equipment, medical devices, and industrial equipment.
