Thycotic Software Enhances Secret Server Performance with Session Monitoring, SSH Proxy Features

Press release date: April 2, 2014

Additional Privileged Account Management Features Increase Security, Productivity of IT Administrators

WASHINGTON -- Thycotic Software, provider of smart and effective privileged access management solutions for global organizations, announced that the newest version of its flagship solution, Secret Server, now offers advanced Session Monitoring and SSH Proxy capabilities as well as support for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1. These features deliver greater insight into the protection of privileged accounts, removing the complexities often associated with password management and improving security and productivity for enterprise IT administrators.

With Secret Server's enhanced Session Monitoring features, privileged account management is more intuitive, providing IT administrators with a granular, real-time view of all interactions, or "sessions," with privileged accounts. Through a simplified dashboard, they can view a list of active sessions, watch live feeds of each session, terminate sessions, and send messages directly to session users.

"Enterprises require real-time visibility into all activity involving privileged accounts in order to create an audit trail to meet compliance standards," explained Ben Yoder, product manager, Thycotic Software. "Monitoring and controlling privileged sessions means IT administrators can more accurately assess what actions are being performed with company secrets."

Secret Server now runs on .NET 4.5.1 to provide better support for the latest Microsoft application development technologies. The Microsoft .NET Framework is a widely used runtime execution environment that manages applications. It consists of the common language runtime (CLR) that provides memory management and other system services, as well as an extensive class library, enabling programmers to take advantage of robust, reliable code for all major areas of application development.

Additional Secret Server features include:
--  Discovery and Password Change Performance - Significant increases in the scanning speed of Secret Server's Discovery, automatic password changing and Heartbeat features provide a more rapid management experience in large environments.
--  Secret Shell (SSH) Proxy - SSH Launchers can now be proxied directly from Secret Server for greater security and logging of specific remote access applications.
--  SSH Logging - SSH Sessions proxied through Secret Server will have the SSH traffic logged automatically when Session Recording is enabled.
--  Session Recording Retention - New configuration options allow for moving stored session recordings out of the database and selecting configurable retention periods.
