Bilco Introduces New VersaMount Access Hatch
NEW HAVEN, CT / February 15, 2002- The Bilco Company is pleased to announce the introduction of its newest product, the VersaMount(TM) access hatch. This new roof hatch will expand installation options while providing customers with the ease of operation, weather-tight performance, and years of maintenance-free service that they have come to expect from Bilco products.
The VersaMount access hatch incorporates a unique, versatile mounting system that provides fast, labor-saving installations. Whether the application involves new construction, retrofit, or
replacement, the VersaMount's innovative anchor clip system and unique frame design will help complete the job efficiently, professionally, and permanently.
Each VersaMount hatch is supplied with a wood mounting frame that separates from the hatch and can be fastened to an existing curb, or around a curb-less opening. This wood frame raises
the hatch from the base or roof level to resize non-standard-sized openings, allowing a standard-sized hatch to be used. In addition, it provides a plumb, level mounting surface to which the hatch can easily be attached.
The VersaMount also features a unique curb profile that permits easy installation on conventional built-up/membrane roofs in compliance with NRCA guidelines. The VersaMount's low profile frame offers the contractor the flexibility to provide a job-built curb to suit project requirements for finished height and slope of the roof. The curb can be built economically using wood
and basic carpentry skills commonly available on all jobsites and can be done in advance of receiving the roof hatch on site.
When replacing an existing hatch where re-roofing is not required or for projects utilizing prefabricated roof curbs, the wood mounting frame is discarded and the hatch mounts directly onto the existing hatch or prefabricated curb. The VersaMount Hatch's low profile frame with overlapping flange and apron results in a quality installation that complies with universal roofing practices.
Regardless of the type of installation, the VersaMount hatch's unique anchor clip system allows easy fastening to either horizontal or vertical surfaces. When the hatch is installed, these clips are fastened to the interior of the frame, enhancing the security of the installation. In addition, an inherent benefit of its low profile design is the fact that the VersaMount hatch's shipping dimensions are significantly smaller than industry-standard scuttles. This offers potential cost savings on shipping, handling, and storage.
