May 26, 2006 - Models I8020 and I8820 I/Port access devices connect users to centralized blade hardware via Ethernet. They operate in both wired and wireless environments and are managed by Grid Center allocation software, with which IT administrators can set up policies to allocate I/Ports to specific blades or group of blades. Having no fans or other moving parts, I/Ports generate little heat making them suitable for hospital operating rooms and manufacturing floors.

New ClearCube I/Ports Further Extend Centralized Computing and Simplify Client Virtualization

Latest Generation of Access Devices Bring a Smaller Form Factor, Improved Performance and Manageability Benefits to End Users

AUSTIN, Texas, April 24 / -- ClearCube Technology, the market leader in centralized computing solutions, today announced the availability of two new I/Port access devices: the I8020 and I8820. These new I/Ports, combined with the power of ClearCube Grid Center management software, extend the reach of centralized computing and help companies simplify their deployment of virtualized client solutions.

I/Port access devices connect users to centralized blade hardware via Ethernet from anywhere in the world. I/Ports operate in both wired and wireless environments and are managed by Grid Center allocation software that is part of the ClearCube Management Suite. With Grid Center, IT administrators can easily set up policies to dynamically allocate I/Ports to specific blades or a group of blades in order to optimize hardware utilization. By channeling users to the appropriate computing resource based on their specific needs, administrators can ensure peak IT efficiency at all times.

"Our hospitals and clinics are fast moving environments that can change moment to moment and we require an IT solution that matches that pace," said Rob Israel, CIO of John C. Lincoln Hospitals in Phoenix, Ariz. "I/Ports enable my team to put vital information at the finger tips of our doctors and clinicians, wherever they are in the patient care environment, while also maintaining the highest level of security and patient safety."

The new I8020 and I8820 I/Ports enable all the core benefits of the ClearCube architecture, including rock-solid security, high availability and ease-of-use, as well as low management costs. In addition, these latest-generation devices deliver increased performance and remote management capabilities in a more compact form factor, about the size of a paperback book. The I/Ports have no fans or other moving parts and generate very little heat making them ideal for challenging environments such as hospital operating rooms and manufacturing floors. Since data is not stored locally and only resides on the centralized PC blades, customers get peace of mind that sensitive data will not leave their facilities.

"The IT staff at our facility has the vitally important responsibility of making sure information can always be accessed by the right people at the right time," said John C. Lincoln's Rob Israel. "The design of the ClearCube solution helps us succeed in this effort, as well as drive our movement toward becoming a more wireless hospital. The I/Ports are ideal for our mobile carts, they have a longer battery life than a laptop and are useless to potential thieves since there is no data stored in the I/Port."

The increased performance and flexibility of the new I/Ports coupled with the dynamic capabilities of Grid Center make it easier for IT administrators to create and manage virtualized environments where users can connect to PC blades, virtual machines or both. The I8020 runs an embedded Linux operating system for basic functionality, while the I8820 runs Microsoft Windows XP Embedded for additional flexibility and I/O support. Both units connect via ClearCube Grid Center to PC blades or virtual machines that deliver the standard Microsoft Windows XP experience to the user.

"Our new I/Ports are the latest example of how ClearCube is striving to provide customers with technology tools designed to enhance their centralized computing environments," said Carl Boisvert, president and CEO of ClearCube Technology. "By providing a comprehensive solution that combines both hardware and software, we're creating a richer and more secure computing experience for end-users than any other company in the industry."
