New Norton Abrasives BlueFire(TM) Fiber Discs Provide Faster, Cooler Cutting for Metal Fabricating

WORCESTER, MA, USA - Saint-Gobain Abrasives - Norton, the world's largest abrasives manufacturer and leader in metal fabrication abrasive products for over 125 years, has introduced Norton NorZon® BlueFire(TM) F826 Fiber Discs for the metal fabricating industry.

NorZon BlueFire fiber discs are positioned as Norton's "better" choice for stainless, super alloys, steel cast iron and high pressure applications. BlueFire features a new and improved blend of patented zirconia alumina and ceramic alumina abrasive, which has a unique micro fracturing capability that allows a constant supply of new cutting edges for fast, aggressive cutting that self-sharpens with use. No other zirconia alumina product provides the performance-to-price ratio and long life as NorZon BlueFire products.

BlueFire F826 is also available as a Speed-Change fiber disc featuring Norton's quick, tool-free, twist-on and off Speed-Change fasteners. Available in 5" - 7" sizes with grit ranges from 25 - 60, Speed-Change discs lock to standard back-up pads with a unique nut design and are easily removed for increased productivity.

The BlueFire F826 AVOS (allows view of surface) discs feature a patented see-through design that allows uninterrupted cutting, reducing heat up to 30% over standard discs. The scooped holes create air flow to pull swarf away from the grinding zone, which cools cutting and extends product life. A five degree angle back-up pad allows greater utilization of the disc surface and prevents gouging of the workpiece.

"The rollout of our new BlueFire fiber discs is one of many products for the metal fabricating industry that Norton will be announcing in 2011. Products run the gamut from the industry's highest performance innovations with the lowest total cost, to excellent performance products at industry competitive prices, providing a full range of solutions for all levels of metal fabricators," said Mr. David Long, Director of Marketing, Strategy and Marketing Information at Saint-Gobain Abrasives.

Norton Abrasives has also introduced new fiber discs at the "best" and "good" price-performance categories. The Norton SG Blaze® F980 is the "best" choice, ideal for stainless steel, titanium, and super alloys with its patented new generation ceramic alumina grain and improved resin bond system. Offering a "good" starting specification for all metals, Norton / Merit Metal fiber discs feature high performance aluminum oxide and provide consistent performance at a low initial price.
