Vuzix Announces New See-Through Tac-Eye Monocular Display System

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Vuzix Corporation (TSX-V: VZX, OTC:BB: VUZI, FMB: V7X) ("Vuzix" or the "Company") today announced its new Tac-Eye® Monocular Display System. The Tac-Eye ST is a see-through augmented reality (AR) enabled monocular Video Eyewear that is expected to be used in a variety of defense, security and industrial applications where rugged hands free video displays are needed. Building from Vuzix' award winning technology in AR-enabled video eyewear, the new display will enable users to view the real world scene while also viewing relevant computer generated information, graphics and alerts.

Vuzix will be demonstrating its new Tac-Eye ST system at the 2011 Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC), May 17 - 19th in Tampa, Florida at the Tampa Convention Center, Booth# 1345.

The Tac-Eye ST is a ruggedized monocular see-through head mounted display for defense, security, surveillance and industrial applications. Designed to clip-on to safety glasses or helmets, the monocular display will improve the user's situational awareness over current monocular models. Part of Vuzix' Tac-Eye product line, the unit will also provide unprecedented connectivity, connecting to any device with VGA or composite video out capability. The Tac-Eye ST is a SVGA monocular with a 32-degree field of view (FOV). It will ship with an optional tracker for full AR capability.

Paul J. Travers, Chief Executive Officer, commented, "The Tac-Eye ST fills a need that our defense and security customers have been asking for. Situational awareness is critical to a user's safety in the field, and their ability to act and react quickly. We are pleased to be able to deliver the see-through binocular sooner than we anticipated."
