TRUMPowers 65W Compact Medical Grade Power Adapter Meets IEC/EN 60601-1-2 4th Edition EMC Standards

Santa Clara, California, USA— TRUMPower launches the TMP65 series of low cost medical grade AC/DC desktop power adapters, which give users a head start in meeting 4th edition EMC standards, including the ability to withstand ESD of 8kV contact and 15kV air.

The TMP65 Class I units come with an IEC 320/C6 AC inlet that has a ground pin. Class II units, furnished with an IEC 320/C8 AC inlet without a ground pin, are double insulated to provide proper safety protection where the availability and integrity of an earth cannot be guaranteed. Both Class I and Class II units come with a 2.5 x 5.5 x 11 mm right angle barrel plug as the standard output connector. The series offers standard single output voltages of 12V, 15V, 18V, 19V, 20V or 24V with continuous output power of up to 65 watts; non-standard output voltages are available upon request. TRUMPower offers other connector options and can accommodate special requirements.

The TMP65 series is approved by UL/cUL and TUV to the latest medical standards, including IEC/EN/UL 60601-1 (Edition 3.1), ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1 (2012), CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1 (2014) and by CB & CCC to IEC 60950-1 2nd edition ITE standards. The power adapter complies with IEC/EN 60601-1-2 4th edition medical EMC and immunity standards including EN 55011 & 55022/FCC/VCCI class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 61000-4-2 (ESD at 15kV air and 8kV contact), EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, EN 61000-4-11.

With efficiency higher than 87%, the TMP65 series is in compliance with CEC and Energy Star efficiency level VI requirements. It also carries CE marking and is RoHS compliant as well. No minimum load is required while still maintaining 5% tolerance throughout the full load range. Packaged in a low profile black-colored plastic enclosure with power on indicator, the unit has a compact size of 5.08 x 2.01 x 1.22 inches. White-colored units are available upon request.

The power adapter has an 85 to 265 VAC continuous input range with 0.98 active power factor and is suitable for operating at up to 5,000 meters altitude. Withstand voltage is specified at 4,000 VAC from input to output (2 x MOPP) and 1,500 VAC from input to ground (1 x MOPP). With touch current being lower than 100µA, the TMP65 power adapter has a low earth leakage current of 75µA typical, 100µA maximum at 264 VAC and can operate at an ambient temperature range of 0°C to +60°C, with no derating required between 0°C to +40°C. The MTBF is higher than 150,000 hours at full load and 25°C ambient per MIL-HDBK-217F. Standby power is < 0 .21W and the power supply is fully protected against overvoltage, over-current, and over temperature conditions.
