With an average life span of 100,000-plus hours (11 years), 3mm LEDs operate reliably year after year and appropriate for many applications. They can be used as individual pixels in a large dot matrix screen, full color screens, moving signs and displays. More diverse applications for 3mm LEDs include light color synthesis.
