End Mills are available uncoated and TiAIN coated.

April 29, 2002 - WavCut(TM) multi-flute end mills utilize sinusoidal wave on cutting edges. Rake geometry forms hollow chip for chip evacuation, and heat-treated M42 cobalt material with drawn shanks results in heat resistance and additional strength. WavCut I end mills have constant rake, while WavCut II end mills have variable rake. They are available with 4 (heavy profiling and corner work) or 6 (light to medium profiling cuts) flutes.

Kennametal IPG Introduces WavCut(TM) High Performance End Mills For Titanium

Augusta, GA - March 20, 2002 - Kennametal Industrial Products Group introduced today its newest technologically-advanced cutting tool solution, WavCut(TM), according to Steve Abrams, Kennametal Industrial Products Group director of product management for end mills and carbide rounds. "WavCut(TM) is a set of two different multi-flute end mills, each utilizing a sinusoidal wave on the cutting edges, to provide outstanding performance when semi-rough machining titanium and other harder materials," said Abrams.

- WavCut I is a tool for use on older machines with slower spindles and too little horsepower. It is also for jobs where improved productivity is hard to measure. If the operator can tell that the tool isn't doing the job required, but can't accurately measure productivity comparisons, the WavCut I series is perfect for him or her.

- WavCut II is a higher performing tool than WavCut I. Its patent pending design can significantly improve productivity and tool life. But to do so, it must be run at higher speeds and feeds. It is a more expensive tool, but its value is unmatched when its users take into account the productivity increases it will provide.

Features and benefits include:
- Sinusoidal wave form on radial cutting edge breaks the chip effectively, yet leaves an excellent surface finish.
- Specially designed rake geometry forms a unique, hollow chip for optimum chip evacuation.
- Heat-treated M42 cobalt material with drawn shanks results in maximum heat resistance and added strength.
- WavCut I series has constant rake. WavCut II series has a high polished, variable rake each designed to suit the machine's capabilities.
- Available with four or six flutes. Four flutes for heavy profiling and corner work, six flutes for light to medium profiling cuts. WavCut II is available uncoated and TiAIN coated.

WavCut(TM) end mills are available through Cleveland Twist Drill, Putnam and Hanita distributors.
