Motorola Announces First Wireless Two-Way Radio Accessory
Remote Microphone Uses Bluetooth(TM) Wireless Technology to Cut the Cord on Motorola Accessories
SCHAUMBURG, Ill.,April 1, 2002- Motorola has created the first wireless accessory device for Motorola two-way radios. Using Bluetooth Wireless Technology, Motorola's designers have developed a remote microphone that enables Motorola two-way radio users to work in a cord-free environment.
The microphone communicates to a Motorola two-way radio through an adapter equipped with Bluetooth Wireless Technology and an adapter-capable battery on the radio. Once the user turns on the two-way radio, the adapter and wireless remote speaker microphone use Bluetooth Wireless Technology to link to each other upon power-up. This technology is based on a radio link (2.402-2.480GHz) that offers fast and reliable voice and data transmissions. Bluetooth Wireless Technology is designed to be fully functional even in noisy radio frequency (RF) environments, and voice transmissions are audible even under severe conditions.
The wireless remote speaker microphone features a range of up to 30 feet depending up on environmental conditions, for example from a tractor-trailer to a forklift or from a file cabinet to a desk. Users can also attach their Motorola two-way radio under bulky clothing or securely hide it in a purse, pouch, or pack while keeping the wireless microphone conveniently and comfortably on the outer layer. And, they can change uniforms without worrying about cords.
The Motorola Accessories and Aftermarket Division manufactures and distributes accessories and replacement batteries to support user applications for other Motorola two-way radios, pagers, cellular telephones and iDENŽ handsets. The Accessories and Aftermarket Division also provides replacement parts, test equipment and technical support to businesses engaged in the repair and maintenance of Motorola products.
