April 23, 2002 - Series 1100 diesel engines conform to EU and North America Stage 2/Tier 2 off-highway emissions requirements. Family includes 3.3 liter 4-cylinder engine which is available in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms with up to 65 hp @ 2100 rpm; Model 1104C-44, rated at 86 hp @ 2400 rpm; and 6 liter, turbocharged, air to air charged cooled 1106C-E60TA which offers 174 hp @ 2400 rpm. Full authority electronic control is available as option.

Perkins' Latest Line-Up Of Customer Driven Products Take The Stage At Conexpo; Introducing The 1100 Series

Las Vegas, March 19 -- Perkins will exhibit a new range of products at Conexpo 2002: the 1100 Series, driven by customer need and tailored specifically to the requirements of the construction industry.

Conexpo marks the first North American showing of Perkins 1100 Series family, a new range of diesel engines designed to surpass expectations in the marketplace while conforming to EU and North America Stage 2/Tier 2 off-highway emissions requirements.

This new family begins with a totally new 3.3 liter engine which is available in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. The 4 cylinder range in total spans a power range of 48 kW (65 hp) @ 2100 rev per min. On display at Conexpo is the 1104C-44 which is rated at 64 kW (86 hp) @ 2400 rev/min. Also on show is the electronic, six liter, turbocharged, air to air charged cooled 1106C-E60TA which offers 129.5 kW (174 hp) @ 2400 rev/min.

1100 Series is a family of engines that has been driven by customer needs.

"Developing this new range has given us a marvelous opportunity to deliver exactly what the customer wants. We have always listened to what our customers want but now this has become the core of our product development strategy," said Michael Wright, marketing manager – new products.

"Developing products on the basis of future market needs has resulted in engines exceeding the requirements of the new emission regulations while at the same time improving on every aspect of performance, reliability and cost of ownership," he added.

As construction machines increase in size there is a growing demand for electronic control. 1100 Series has been tailored specifically to meet this need with full authority electronic control an option to mechanical on the 4 cylinder engine. This comes as standard on the 6 cylinder engines, enabling more precise control and integration with customers' machines.

In addition, this new range is cleaner and quieter than ever before. 1100 Series gives 500 hour service intervals, ecologically friendly filters and benefits from up to 3 dB(A) further reductions in noise.
